RENU RAJ TRANSFERRED

 Ernakulam Collector Dr Renu Raj on Wednesday received a transfer and has now been posted as the Wayanad district collector. Renu Raj's transfer gains significance in the backdrop of the alleged lapses of the district administration in handling the fire at the Brahmapuram waste treatment plant in Kochi.The High Court had expressed displeasure over the collector who did not appear before it after it issued a suo moto notice following the fire incident. Umesh N S to be the new Ernakulam Collector. The Govt also issues transfer orders to other IAS officers thus implementing a major reshuffle. Thrissur, Alappuzha and Kozhikode will also get new collectors, according to an order issued by the General Administration Department

At the age of 27 Renu Raj cleared UPSC Civil Services Exam that too in first attempt! Not only this, she was practicing surgeon when she attempted UPSC. She believes that by being a doctor she could serve 50-100 people but by being a IAS she could serve millions of people. With this aim, she started preparing for UPSC. She left medicine practice to prepare for the exam.

एर्नाकुलम कलेक्टर डॉ रेणु राज को बुधवार को एक स्थानांतरण प्राप्त हुआ और अब उन्हें वायनाड जिला कलेक्टर के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। कोच्चि में ब्रह्मपुरम अपशिष्ट उपचार संयंत्र में आग से निपटने में जिला प्रशासन की कथित चूक की पृष्ठभूमि में रेणु राज का स्थानांतरण महत्व रखता है। उच्च न्यायालय ने कलेक्टर पर नाराजगी व्यक्त की थी, जो स्वत: संज्ञान लेने के बाद उसके समक्ष पेश नहीं हुए थे। आग लगने की घटना के बाद नोटिस उमेश एन एस एर्नाकुलम के नए कलेक्टर होंगे। सरकार अन्य आईएएस अधिकारियों के स्थानांतरण आदेश भी जारी करती है और इस प्रकार एक बड़ा फेरबदल करती है। सामान्य प्रशासन विभाग द्वारा जारी एक आदेश के अनुसार, त्रिशूर, अलप्पुझा और कोझिकोड को भी नए कलेक्टर मिलेंगे।

27 साल की उम्र में रेणु राज ने यूपीएससी सिविल सेवा परीक्षा पास की, वह भी पहले प्रयास में! इतना ही नहीं, जब उसने यूपीएससी का प्रयास किया तो वह सर्जन का अभ्यास कर रही थी। उनका मानना ​​है कि एक डॉक्टर बनकर वह 50-100 लोगों की सेवा कर सकती हैं लेकिन एक आईएएस बनकर वह लाखों लोगों की सेवा कर सकती हैं। इसी उद्देश्य से उन्होंने यूपीएससी की तैयारी शुरू की। परीक्षा की तैयारी के लिए उसने चिकित्सा अभ्यास छोड़ दिया।
