Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most important religious celebrations for Jains across the world and majorly in India. This day marks the birth of Lord Mahavir, who was the 24th and the last Tirthankara of the Jain faith, and the son of King Siddhartha and Queen Trisala. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated on the 13th day of the waxing moon period in the Chaitra month of the Hindu calendar on the birth of the 24th Tirthankar of Jainism, Lord Mahavir. This day holds great significance for the Jain community. According to Jains, Mahavira was born in 599 BC. It falls in March or April of the Gregorian calendar, and is celebrated by Jains as Mahavir Janma Kalyanak. This year Lord Mahavir's birth anniversary will be celebrated on April 4.

3. Jains visit temples and perform puja, offering flowers, sweets, and other offerings to Lord Mahavir’s idol.

5. Jains also organise processions called “Rath Yatras,” which involve the carrying of Lord Mahavir’s idol in a beautifully decorated chariot through the streets, accompanied by devotees singing hymns and chanting prayers.
